1) chinese national energy indsutry has the state supported financial power. do you know how much they invested in sudan on oil refineries? any privately owned companies in china you know across any industry has such deep pockets?
so slow down there, hold your horse, let's see why state energy makes sense? why would you suggest privatization in this section?
2) the utility power shortage has really nothing to do with oil & gas. basically GE signed a deal of 900 mil USD to transfer power generating system manufacturing technologies, and it takes time for the harbin based company to come up with the capacity. Siemens/Westinhouse are typically higher costs suppliers. eastern power grid is about at 1/3 of capacity it should have. one company here is Houston makes a sub component of power generating system, the 800 employee plant (current level) survived two rounds of big cut back and lay off, only saved by chinese orders...back orders up to 3 years from now.
so, question for you, how would cfo make something out of this engergy hungry situation? any strategies?
