The starting point:
Find a product line and:
1. a budget of $20,000 first year, and your part time, also have some friends part time. You need to learn to talk like a pro in a short time. Not only technical, but also business. 2. a show booth $2000 and + 3. some pictures, graphics of products, PowerPoint presentation, product brochures, quotation system (FilMaker). $1000 4. register a company, some stationary, your business card, a computer ($4000) 5. attend some trade shows, and make friends, find out what people wants ($5000 each) 6. set up a 1-800 number (AT&T can let you have your personal 1-800 number) ($500) 7. follow up calls after trade show, have dinner with them, find out what people want and what the market demand and supply. Looking for a nitch. ($100 each dinner, $500 each trip) 8. once have an idea, find some sales representative to help you. promise them $25% in return, US is a huge country, cannot handle all by your self. 9. at the end of first year with all work , you should have a net work, a list of long term leads, several qualified leads, a good customer pipeline, may be even put together a deal or two. You should have a fairly good idea of what to do next year. Keep your job though, don't just quit yet, it is going to be hard, I know.
