I know Mr. Diermeier from my time at UBS. He is the protege of Gary Brinson and they worked together from their 1st Chicago days. Jeff left UBS as Chief Investment Officer a few years ago to become the head of the CFA institute, and now his protege Brian Singer is still at UBS.
It is great we Chinese has the desire and talent to catch up with these giants in financial theory. To achieve this, we should get rid of the education emphasis on high test scores, and instead encourage hard work and original thinking. In addition, the China financial market should be open to new ideas and products, so that it provides a practice field and attract great minds into studying and practicing financial theories.
China has a long way to go, but it is making slow progress bit by bit.
