Lake Louise is a glacial lake located in Banff National Park, named after the Princess Louise Caroline Alberta (1848-1939), the fourth daughter of Queen Victoria. The unique emerald colour of the water comes from rock flour carried into the lake by melt-water from the glaciers that overlook the lake (Lefroy glacier). The lake has a surface of 0.8 km².
The famous Chateau Lake Louise is located on the eastern shore of the lake. It is one of Canada's grand railway hotels, a luxury resort hotel built in the early decades of the 20th century by the Canadian Pacific Railway.
A variety of hiking trails exist around the lake.
Banff is a resort town and one of Canada's most popular tourist destinations, known for its mountainous surroundings and hot springs. It is a major destination for outdoor sports and features extensive hiking, biking, scrambling and skiing areas within the region. Banff's one of the most popular attractions is the Banff Upper Hot Springs. The other popular attraction is the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, a former railway hotel constructed in Scottish Baronial style. The hotel was built between spring of 1887 and 1888 by the Canadian Pacific Railway. It is one of the premier resort hotels of the world. The golf course in the river valley is also noted worldwide. ba<x>sed on my experience, a 5-7 day trip is recommended to tour the Canadian Rockies, 3 days in Jasper, 1-2 days in Lake Louise, and 1-2 days in Banff. Driving is a must-do. If you like hiking, there are a lot of good hiking trails in the area. If you are a golfer, you should definitely try some of the famous golf courses there. The alpine golf experience is quite unique. You are often distracted by the picturesque views on the golf course. I did not bring my camera with me on the course. I downloaded some pictures to share.

Recommend to stay in one the resorts outside of the town of Jasper, say, THE COAST PYRAMID LAKE RESORT, PATRICIA LAKE BUNGALOWS (where I stayed), and other places listed here, to experience the pure beauty and quietness of nature.
