Job Title: Capital Market Research Junior Analyst
Project: Yang
Location: Shanghai
Responsibilities/Authorities
perform a number of functions in supporting Client analysts including:
A. Conduct Industry Research:
i) Gather industry information and/or data from different sources, value added analysis (valued addition in the form of additional analysis / industry insight, etc.), and write analysis summary to client
ii) Draft sections of thematic/initiation reports, which, ideally, can be published as is or without material re-work
iii) Create charts and graphs for publications
B. Conduct Company Research:
i) Perform company research, include: on-site study/review/survey of selected Chinese companies, attend company’s earnings calls, summarize company’s earnings calls, update financial models ba<x>sed on earnings release and major news announcement, etc.
ii) Draft sections of thematic/initiation reports for different companies, which, ideally, can be published as is or without material re-work
iii) Create charts and graphs for publications
C. Build, format and maintain financial models, such tasks include:
i) Ongoing maintenance of existing financial models
ii) Build and input new financial models
iii) During earnings release season, update models and ensure sensible forecast outcomes
iv) Integrate databa<x>ses with the other models
D. Create and maintain databa<x>se
i) Create and maintain excel ba<x>sed databa<x>ses of global comparable companies
E. Collect industry/company news
i) Collect industry/company news daily or weekly
ii) Create daily/weekly news flow letter for onshore client analysts
F. Ad hoc analyses and projects as requested from time to time
G. Willing to travel if necessary
Must have:
Proficient in English, both spoken and written; be capable of structuring an argument and articulating it in written and spoken form
Must have 4-year Bachelor degree from reputable schools
Highly numerate & highly analytical
Understand equity markets
Desktop PC Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
CFA Level I or above preferred

Required tasks include:
A. The building, formatting and maintaining models, such tasks include:
i) updating of reports or models: Earnings, Dividends, Cash Flow, Commentary, Calendars updated
ii) build P&L and b/s financial models
iii) recommend structuring and restructuring of the basic models built by Client
iv) model assumptions / Sensitivities development
v) integrating databa<x>ses with the other models
vi) data gathering (either qualitative information, such as product information or industry & company data in any form (Bloomberg, Reuters, etc.))
B. Calculate financial ratios
C. M&A / LBO activities, to include:
i) value added news-flows analysis (value addition in the form of additional analysis / industry insight etc)
ii) managing interactions with multiple Client teams
iii) attend company presentations
iv) produce summaries for sales force
v) drafting sections of thematic/initiation reports
vi) notes to onshore analysts from a Company conf call (during earnings or other events)
vii) creating charts and graphs for publications
D. Writing news for daily/weekly -
i) preview / review notes
E. Working on Client platforms and databa<x>ses
i) databa<x>se building and maintenance
ii) perform thought leadership/conceptual work and suggest areas for further analyses
F. Composing company desc<x>riptions.
G. Ad hoc analyses and projects as requested from time to time
Must have:
Highly numerate ; highly analytical ; business awareness ; good spoken and written English and Mandarin OR English and Japanese ; Desktop PC Skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
1 year in financial services research role
One or a combination of the following skills would be a big plus:
Financial modeling skills using advanced Excel functions and VBA
Databa<x>se/statistical analysis
Specific industry knowledge e.g. semiconductor, media, retail
Survey design and implementation

Ensuring operational / "day to day" delivery of service in accordance with requirements;
Operational issues resolution;
Operational relationship management and ongoing user feedback;
Responsibility for quality compliance of work submitted;
Coaching and team motivation.
Required tasks include:
A. The building, formatting and maintaining models, such tasks include:

Team management experience; performance management; motivation and mentoring; strong client focused interpersonal skills; time management and deadline adherence; strong financial research process / operational knowledge.
Masters in Economics, Finance or MBA from a top tier University or CFA.
3 years in financial services research role.
Must have excellent communication skills in English and Mandarin.
One or a combination of the following skills would be a big plus:
Financial modeling skills using advanced Excel functions
Databa<x>se/statistical analysis
Specific industry knowledge e.g. semiconductor, media, retail
