Search Dev Manager
We are looking for outstanding Software Development Manager who combines superb technical, communication, analytical, and leadership skills. As an Software Dev Manager,
•You will learn to use different Amazon technologies to build your software, such as S3, Cloud, etc.
•You will work closely with different teams located in different countries, they might come from US, India or Europe.
•You need always consider high availability and large scalability when building the software in this team because the code and system you build will serve both high throughput and capacity.
•You are highly encouraged to build an end-to-end system, that means website is only one part, you also need to build the related backend service and metrics system as well.
Your valuable work will impact millions of Amazon customers!
Basic Qualifications:
•Two or more years of hands-on experience managing developers
•BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related field.
•A deep understanding to object-oriented design and programming
•Proficient in building software applications in Java and/or Perl, preferably in a Unix/Linux environment
•Solid RDBMS experience, familiar with SQL
•Knowledge of professional software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, unit testing and functional testing
•Strong verbal and written communication skills in Mandarin and English
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience with agile development methodologies
•Thorough understanding of Service Oriented Architectures
•Familiar with javascript, AJAX, CSS and related website development knowledge
•Master at least one script language, such as shell, Perl or Python

The Amazon.cn Retail Customer Experience team in Beijing is looking for an independent, customer-focused, technically savvy, detail-oriented, experienced Technical Program Manager to join our team. In this exciting role, you will make significant contribution to accelerate the growth of our e-commerce business and make history with Amazon. We are looking for a globally oriented, locally savvy individual who is passionate about improving the customer experience across all our e-commerce websites.
The Technical Program Manager (TPM) will drive cross-functional projects and focus on launching and integrating global Amazon systems and website features. The TPM will work closely with both local and global business teams to define business requirements, lead the Beijing development team through full product lifecycles (product definition, delivery, and on-going management), and interact at all levels with Amazon groups in order to drive successful programs. The TPM will act as the owner of programs through all phases of product development. The TPM will also actively mentor team members and help them to grow and improve.
Responsibilities include:
•Own full product life-cycle - including product definition, delivery, and on-going management.
•Propose, initiate, and plan project initiatives.
•Plan and manage project deliverables, budget, and schedule.
•Understand market realities and company capabilities to define product strategy.
•Work with stakeholders - Retail, Operations, Design, and Technology teams, global and local - to create and deliver compelling products.
•Build on-going metrics to measure the success of programs and inform product direction.
•Control execution, schedule, and costs

Core Qualifications:
•1-3 years of experience designing and developing software applications
•5+ years of combined software development and project/program management working experience
•Proven success in a fast-paced environment, independently seek opportunity, define problems, and solve them creatively with the right priority.
•Excellent communication and people skills: being able to communicate to diverse audiences with confidence, clarity and right focus. Build trustworthy and supportive working relationships.
•Language skills: fluent (written and spoken) in both Mandarin Chinese and English, able to write business documents, exchange email and host meetings in both languages.
•Previous experience with several project life-cycles on a single product from product definition to operational support is a plus.
•Previous success with championing product ideas and winning agreement across diverse stakeholders is highly desired.
SDE_Search Traffic
Specific job responsibilities will include:
- Design and build large scale metrics systems used to track traffic from search engines, trends in search terms, conversion and other key traffic metrics.
- Design and build dynamic website components used to improve ranking and indexing of Amazon pages
- Design and build machine-learning systems to optimize the landing page experience and improve sales conversion for free search traffic
- Work with other teams around Amazon to improve platform support for search engine friendly URLs, and content elements.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or 2+ years relevant work experience
• Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design
• Computer Science fundamentals in data structures
• Computer Science fundamentals in algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
• Proficiency in, at least, one modern programming language such as C, C++, C#, Java, or Perl
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience with large scale map reduce based data processing frameworks like Hadoop.
- Knowledge and experience with cloud services like Amazon EC2, Windows Azure etc.
- Experience in building components of a large commercial search engine – For eg crawling, indexing, run time query parsing, relevance ranking etc.
- Knowledge and experience with one of the following areas: machine learning, data mining, computational statistics, statistical modeling, web analytics, pattern recognition
- Hands-on experience on HTML, javascript and JQuery
- Experience with scripting languages Perl/Python in a Linux/Unix environment
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment
- Effective working in a team as well as independently
