1. objective of this job:
The role of the BG/BU Quality Leader is to drive improvement initiatives that support higher levels of product quality and reduced costs of repairs (Cost-of-Non-Quality), as well as a higher levels of customer satisfaction (reliability & fitness for use).
2. Responsibility of the job holder:
The BG/BU Quality manager ensures that targets on Cost of Non Quality (CoNQ), Product Quality and Net Promoter Score (NPS) are achieved. The BG/BU Quality manager achieves these targets through deployment and operational management of the “4 quality pillars”: Development-, Supplier-, Industrial- and Customer Service Quality for which he is responsible. The Quality Leader is personally responsible for any milestone deviations, overall performance gaps and capabilities of the BG/BU Quality team and processes.
3. Key Performance Indicators for the job holder:
a) Achieving the target product quality performance at the end-user, i.e. Field Quality.
b) Achieving Cost-of-Non-Quality targets typically expressed in %-of-sales.
c) Co-achieving Net Promoter Score targets.
d) Driving resolution time for field issues.
4. Authority of the job holder:
a) Direct reporting (and possible escalation) to BG/BU Manager and Sector Quality Leader on product quality.
b) Decision to block product creation milestones and commercial shipments on the basis of (potential) product quality issues.
c) Human Resource planning of all top-level Quality functions within the BG/BU
d) Design, deployment and continuous improvements of the overall Product Quality System (as defined by the 4 Quality Pillars)
5. Main tasks of the job holder:
a) Translating top-down CoNQ and NPS targets into product quality targets and product quality target roadmaps and deploy these to quality managers in realization centers;
b) Creating and maintaining a capable and motivated team of quality leaders and specialists (covering all 4 quality pillars) that continuously improve the quality system and drive the organization to reach above objectives;
c) Periodic review of results and corrective actions for product quality, quality costs, customer satisfaction issues and of preventive actions via the functional KPIs for resp. Development, Supplier, Industrial and Service Quality.
d) Continuous assessment and improvements of the overall Product Quality System
6. Competencies required for the job holder:
a) Managerial capabilities. Good communication and presentation skills (especially cross functional). Team player and team builder.
b) Experienced in the practical use of Quality methods and tools.
c) Academic university degree level with technical background.
d) At least 5 years experience in quality, development or service roles
e) Change agent
f) Attention to detail and drive for results
g) Leadership – team management experience
