Demand Planner
based in Shanghai
Reports to DP & Logistics Leader, Great China
Purpose:
Implements divisional Demand Forecasting and Assortment Planning (DFAP) strategies (in collaboration with other key roles within the affiliate) to deliver results in line with affiliate’s SBP and AFP targets.
Key performance Indicators:
(A) Monthly targets
1. Forecast Accuracy
2. Sales order fill rate (for replenishment products)
3. DFC: Days forward cover (replenishment items only)
(B) Quarterly targets
1. Total Inventory – Value and DSI
2. Distressed Inventory – Value and DSI
Scope: Includes all brands & all FG categories
Above targets are Joint targets between DP, Sales, Retail team.
Responsibility: Primary responsibility (DP) - Fill rates and Inventory Optimization / Secondary responsibility (DP) - Forecast accuracy
Key responsibilities:
General
• Provides marketing and consumer insights to regional and affiliate planning team members (as required)
Seasonal Aggregate Forecast
• Collaborates with Brand, Sales and Retail teams to input adjustments on the system forecast based on 1. marketing, retail and sales promotions and other specific events 2. account for targeted sell-through % by channel/ category, etc.
• Review above forecast and identify gaps versus AFP and define action plans in collaboration with SMT
• Create Buying Budgets for new / ongoing products for the season for the affiliate buying team, after considering contribution from Replenishment and Leftover categories.
Seasonal Forecast
• Review sales forecast for the season based on the constrained buy plan and identify gaps / action plans
• Load bookings in the DFPT tool (non-CNBG affiliate only)
• Review the PC9 level forecast Vs Production quantity Vs Bookings to identify order shortages/ excess as the case may be and work with RDP & RSP to delete/ increase incoming Pos.
Monthly Forecast
• Review the monthly base (system-generated) forecast for DDR products and make adjustment to future months against specific causal factors i.e. promotions, price change (mark-downs), phase-out, etc.
Special care accorded to “A” category products.
• Manage adjustment for non DDR products based on supply chain delays / low bookings
• Review the aggregated PC9 level forecast to compare against AFP and identify the gaps and highlight the same to SMT to define action plans for making up the difference.
• Finalize Full year forecast and send the same to Essbase
Inventory Optimization
• Joint setting of annual and quarterly Inventory targets with RDP and affiliate Finance.
• Prepare monthly “Excess Inventory for re-distribution” report and share with RDP; once export transaction is fixed, complete the transfer operational process.
• Quarterly Review of Safety stock levels, Size-mix ratio and ABC classification of products with RDP
• Half-yearly review of Supplier lead-times with RDP.
• Annual review of Ordering frequency for replenishment products with RDP and amendment (if required)
• Manage the product phase out process to ensure lower inventory leftovers
People management
• Participate in affiliate and virtual teams based on the LS&CO Way and our “winning culture”
Key Relationships: Regional DP team, Regional SP Team, Affiliate - Retail, Brand, Finance & Sales teams.
Job Requirements:
Experience: 4 years+ Demand planning/ Forecasting/ Inventory management experience
Previous ERP experience is a plus
previous experience in apparel industry is a plus

Functional Competencies Demand Forecasting:
• Drive Economic Value: Understands and can apply knowledge of economic/value drivers and financial indicators to the Value Chain to maximize company value; uses comprehension of the relationship between lead-time, inventory, market information, and service delivery to help provide guidance to the organization.
• Manage Processes: Helps guide the design and management of consistent planning processes, including collaborative customer planning and Sales & Operation Planning (S&OP) to guide strategic planning, annual operating, and go-to-market processes; participates in continuous improvement of demand planning activities
• Analyze Performance: Analyzes results and communicates implications and recommendations to appropriate Value Chain partners to influence key business decisions; participates in “after-the-fact” assessment of demand projections to improve accuracy of future projections and ensure organization learning are captured and incorporated
• Use heuristic Decision-Making: Translates qualitative information and data and into quantitative demand projections for capacity planning and financial forecasts; identifies implications of the forecast for inventory planning.
• Apply Forecasting Techniques: Understands and applies various forecasting and modeling techniques, including advantages, disadvantages, and appropriateness for a particular situation; able to apply principles within a FASHION/consumer products environment to arrive at an accurate demand plan; identifies best-practice techniques and helps guide adoption within LS&CO.
• Manage Demand Information, Technology & Decision Support: Proactively participates in the assessment, selection, and adoption of demand planning technologies in order to achieve operational excellence and to become the preferred supplier to our customers; helps evaluate data and decision requirements within and across the Value Chain to enhance integration with other processes
• Manage Risk: Uses appropriate due diligence to assess and mitigate business and operational risks. Maintains perspective on balancing demand and supply, inventory, and customer service.
