Position : General Manager, Logistics Operation (N & E China), Shanghai
Reporting to: Operations Director
The Company is a diversified business conglomerate, in the trading and distribution of food & consumer products in the Greater China region. It supplies and distributes a wide range of food and major international brands of FMCG, frozen & chilled meat and seafood, canned food, beverages, etc. to retailers, wholesalers and caterers.
The Position
The executive will report to the Operations Director responsible for the Group’s food and consumer product businesses in eastern and northern China.
The logistics operation will provide a broad range of services, including temperature controlled storage, bonded & non-bonded warehousing, cross-border & intra-cities distribution, supply chain management solution, material procurement, customs clearance and declaration, packaging and other value-added services (such as labeling, and import & export services to principals) in mainland China. It intends to support the Group’s strategic direction of total food supply chain development and its fast growth of food business.
Specific Responsibilities:
Starting from green field, with 70 acres of land in the vicinity of Shanghai
To plan, get government approval, tender, build, commission, recruit, set procedures & policies, and operate the logistics centre
To take responsible of the day to day management of the operation
To develop and benchmark company performance standards
To develop and implement a comprehensive Logistics and Supply strategy and service to accommodate for in-house and third party demand
To negotiate and supervise any contracts with service providers; monitoring performance against agreed criteria
To develop relationships with key local and overseas suppliers and principals
Requirements:
10 years experience at senior level in a broad based wholesale and retail environment in logistics or as a service provider
A background in project and operations management in FMCG, preferably in food-related sector
The ability to see the big picture, make strategic decisions and deliver the desired outcome
The ability to lead, direct and motivate staff and service providers to achieve the highest standards
A team player, with a track record of achievement, who can quickly build rapport and develop the respect of existing management through specialist know how, personal charisma and drive
A university degree in supply chain, logistics or project management
Fluent in English and Mandarin
The ability to make convincing presentations and to support recommendations with statistical and cost/benefit analysis
Familiarity with the China operating environment
