Customer Support Engineer - Current Opening
The Customer Support Engineering position in China is a critical position. In this key role, you will provide a variety of support services for our customers. Additionally, you will be involved with a variety of related activities including providing planned and emergency support services for customers at their facilities, working with Program teams supporting installations of new measurement systems and other support activities in other regions as required. The successful candidate will be well positioned for growth into several potential positions including: Systems Engineering, Product Engineering, Key Customer Account Management, Program Management, etc.
Job Description:
In this customer-facing role the successful candidate will provide engineering support to MI Technologies customers including installation support, warranty repairs, calibration services and post warranty support to keep the installed ba<x>se of MI Technologies equipment fully operational. Conduct and support range probes, site surveys and characterizations to assess customer test ranges for proper operating performance. The right candidate will be confident, self-motivated and able to work independently, or with limited direction, for long periods of time.
• Assist customers in optimizing their measurement systems
• Perform data analysis, prepare test briefings, and write test reports
• Work with mechanics and subcontractors during testing
• Assist in hardware and software troubleshooting
• Determining appropriate corrective action, as required
• Provide technical assistance by phone for customer ba<x>se
• Assist customers with hardware/software issues
• Schedule and perform calibrations and Preventive Maintenance at customer sites.
• On-site support of customer Microwave test instrumentation
• Support customer test/production facilities on contracted or as-required basis for scheduled calibrations and preventive maintenance (PM)
• Repair equipment, usually to module level and sometimes to component level, using standard and proprietary test equipment
• Troubleshoot system problems and assist customers with proper operation of electronic and electro-mechanical devices.
• Prepare Field Service Reports and Calibration Certificates upon completion
• Develop outstanding relationships with the Company's customers to enhance future business on a sole source basis.
• Insure that the customer is aware of all improvements made to the Company's hardware and software products to support the notion of system upgrades.
• Support the customer in every way possible to keep their test systems and ranges operating in the manner required by the customer.
An exceptional opportunity for an RF/Microwave Engineer who is interested in working in an innovative and challenging environment with a company that specializes in the design and manufacture of equipment for testing RF and microwave antenna products. This is a developmental position opportunity, which will expose the right candidate to all facets of our business. Training in MI Technologies products will be provided at the company headquarters in the US.
Requirements:
• BSEE or BS in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, with at least 2 years of experience in microwave design theory, practical microwave circuit or antenna design, or an MSEE or MS in Electro-Mechanical Engineering or with proven course work in microwave circuit or antenna design.
• Previous Microwave/RF/Antenna experience preferred. Some electro-mechanical experience desired.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently with only telephone or e-mail support from the engineering staff at MI Technologies.
• Excellent documentation, organization and time management skills.
• Fair English communications skill (both written and spoken).
• Ability to work with all Chinese institutions, including defense establishments and those institutes that require Chinese citizenship.
