Responsibilities:
• To provide sound technical advice to solve technical issues which arise with materials, equipment and components or welding.
• Assist with investigations by carrying out surveys of materials, components including failure investigations.
• To assist the surveyors with routine technical queries and interpretation of the Rules relating to manufacture, inspection and certification of materials, equipment and components or welding.
• Providing technical training on formal courses or by on the job training of surveyors.
• Advising on suitability of welding repair methods, qualifications and procedures.
• To pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of up-to-date industry knowledge and awareness.
Requirements:
• Bachelor degree or above in me<x>tallurgy / Material / Welding
• At least 5 years experience working with materials, welding and components for the marine industry.
• Experience working in a steel mill, foundry or forge is preferable.
• Good knowledge and understanding or materials, components and welding.
• Experience of quality management systems (ISO9001) would be an advantage.
• A chartered engineer or working towards chartered engineer status.
• Membership of an appropriate professional institution.
• Proficiency in the English language (including technical English).
• Good communications and team working skills.
