Role
As a Hardware Systems Engineer, you will contribute to design, development and deployment of next generation Chrome hardware, working closely with ODMs and suppliers. You will drive system requirements and constraints, oversee physical engineering design layout, and work cross-functionally on system integration. You will also work cross functionally with mechanical design, operation, and product to deliver systems to production.
Responsibilities
Participate in the development of next generation computers and their sub-components from concept kick off to mass production.
Ensure successful technical integration with Google, ODM and chipset vendors; Act as a main point of technical resource and drive technical issues to resolution.
Detailed hands-on development of the motherboard and/or peripheral boards of the systems
Driving resolution of cross-functional issues including those related to architecture (performance, power consumption, thermal behavior), production (quality, failure analysis, manufacturing), and development (schematic design, PCB layout, and overall system integration)
Work with engineering/qualification teams on system bring up, and design validation, support team in debug and failure analysis investigation.
Qualifications
BS degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent practical experience.
5+years of experience and solid understanding of the system development process including symbol creation, schematics, and board design and development, as well as board and system bring up and debugging.
Development experience with PC/Device hardware.
Experience with Linux/Unix environments including shell scripting.
Experience in the design and development of high speed digital and/or analog boards and systems.
PCB-level design engineering of system boards, including CPU/chipset, memory, high-speed communication interfaces, and DC/DC switching converters.
Experience working with OEM, ODM, JDM, and CM partners (or some subset of these)
Understand entire product development process for mass volume production design, with a focus on DFM (design for manufacturing), DFT (design for test) and DFQ (design for quality)
Familiarity with CPU internal architecture, SW development from firmware through system level, and security
