The Applications Engineer will be responsible for preparing competitive technical tenders and related cost breakdown for oil and gas projects.
Support sales managers to define client’s needs. When required, prepare concept paper or draft technical proposal.
Participate to tender kick-off meeting with sales manager.
Review client’s RFQ requirements and define of scope of works.
Attend clarification meetings with client.
Analyse costs/benefits of alternative designs to ensure competitiveness and efficiency.
Prepare PFD, P&ID, plant layout, equipment list and specifications, based on design guidelines.
Coordinate and integrate E&ICA tender design with E&ICA engineer.
Identify and evaluate mechanical suppliers and sub-contractors (price, lead time, technical & financial capabilities, references, QA/QC, after-sales service). Development of a database.
Prepare technical proposal, including general system description, equipment list & specifications, drawings.
Prepare detailed cost estimation for equipment supply, shipping and installation.
Prepare detailed estimation of manpower requirements for detailed design, fabrication, site supervision, commissioning.
Prepare detailed estimation of system maintenance requirements.
Participation in bid presentation and technical support to sales team for contract negotiation.
In case of contract award, prepare project file for hand-over to contract design team.
Obtain feedback on suppliers from procurement manager (performance, price), and feedback on system design from lead design engineer.
Qualifications:
must have a bachelor degree in chemical, environmental or mechanical engineering,
have 8-10 years experience in similar position, i.e. design of industrial (including the pre-treatment) treatment systems and tender preparation in oil and gas market
Good knowledge of water treatment in oil and gas market
Good knowledge of mechanical and electrical design
Proficient in AutoCad
Good written and spoken English
Good communications skills and good team player
Hard working and able to work under tight deadlines
Available to travel in China
