Amazon’s Traffic team is looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead the development of scalable software solutions and services. You will work closely with other traffic technology and retail customer experience teams to define and build the deals and social experience for Amazon. This position will involve working directly with the Social Media and Deals teams in US.
The Social Media team owns Amazon's relationship and presence on Facebook and Twitter globally. It is responsible for building tools and platform for the entire company to interact on Social Media, as well as building customer facing features that integrate with social media and enhance the shopping experience, and encourage users to shop on Amazon.
The Deals team owns the Gold Box and deals features on world-wide Amazon sites year-round as well as Amazon.com’s Black Friday deals experience. Black Friday deals week is one of Amazon’s biggest shopping events of the year.
As a Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers in design, development, test, and deployment of the next generation deal systems, and social media integrations. A successful candidate will have an established background in developing customer-facing experiences, a strong technical ability, excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience
- 2+ years people management experience
- Fluent in Chinese, experience with Chinese culture
- Good English speaking and writing skills
- Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- A deep understanding of software development in a team, and a track record of shipping software on time
- Deep hands-on technical expertise
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Master's Degree preferred
- Ideal candidates will be innovative, creative, flexible and self-motivated
- Experience with Scrum or Agile development a plus
- Strong business acumen
- Exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions
