The EE R&D Beijing Team is part of VMware global Ecosystems Engineering organization and is responsible for partner collaboration and delivering storage and other infrastructure projects with VMware partners and helping to solve challenges presented in cloud services delivery.
We are seeking storage development engineers with hands-on software skills developing vSphere I/O (storage) stacks and protocols, storage management software, and systems software. As a senior engineer you will have direct exposure to core VMware technology and work closely with a strong engineering team, collaborate and consult with VMware storage partners to jointly develop solutions that enable VMware and its ecosystem of storage infrastructure/solution partners to effectively address challenges and tap into opportunities presented in a Cloud computing environment.
Responsibilities
* As a storage development consultant collaborate with partners towards developing vSphere storage infrastructure/solution partner software and plugins.
* Contribute to design the next generation virtualization hypervisor storage systems that fit in a large scale cloud environment.
* As a hands-on developer, be capable of fully understanding the storage stack and system and implementing and guiding the changes required to improve storage system reliability and availability and maximize storage I/O performance
* Provide high quality documentation of storage solution APIs and devkits to partners for efficient self-enablement
* Collect and generalize valuable engineering requirements from storage solution partners and influence the design decision and implementation of next generation of vSphere storage architecture
* Work on storage efficiency, reliability and availability, and management requirements for cloud storage
Minimum Requirements
* 6+ years of experience in designing and developing system and kernel software
* 4+ years of direct experience in designing and developing storage infrastructure and solution software
* Excellent C programming skills (5+ years)
* Solid working knowledge and hands on experience in UNIX internals, Linux/Windows storage stack, and file system technology
* Extensive hands on experience configuring storage and associated components, resolving complex software defects, including reproducing problems based on written descriptions, applying relevant techniques to isolate root cause, tracing through large source code bases, and writing short-term workarounds and permanent solutions
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (fluent in both oral and written English) -- be able to interact well with developers at VMware and global partners
* Solid skills in writing high-quality, well-designed and well-documented code
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills with ability to prioritize and handle multiple outstanding tasks and deliver products timely
* Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science (MS or PhD in CS or CE preferred)

* Knowledge SAN and IP storage protocols: FC/FCoE, iSCSI, and NFS

The Corporate Globalization team evangelizes the globalization initiative throughout the company, working across global and field marketing, sales enablement, product management, R&D, IT, and support to deliver globalized programs and marketing assets. As a global organization, based in Palo Alto, Europe, Asia, and Latin America, we work directly with our international stakeholders as well as global and in-country localization vendors. We maintain a core competency in localization tools and processes and consult across the company to develop globalized end-user facing portals and IT systems to support our customers and partners.
Role description:
As a Localization Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing multiple localization projects, driving high quality, efficient processes to support the localization of our international website, sales and marketing programs and assets, e-learning and partner enablement assets, and customer facing portals.
Performance objectives:
* You will plan and execute globalization projects, building a budget and overall schedule, and manage to successful completion.
* You will develop and manage the overall localization budget and schedules for your program area.
* You will manage glossaries and language style guides.
* You will define, implement, and maintain best-of-class processes for localization of programs, updates and international website launches.
* You will work closely with in-country marketing managers, sales and services teams, corporate marketing and program management to identify and prioritize assets for localization and ensuring that overall programs are high quality and successfully executed.
* You will manage vendors and establish, track, and analyze production quality.
Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in languages, computer science, or relevant technical field.
* Software or localization project management experience.
* 4+ years localization project management experience required.
* Experience with vendor management and establishing and managing budgets.
* Familiarity with HTML, xml, and desktop publishing. Familiarity with localization tools and processes.

* Excellent verbal / written communication and analytical skills and the ability to work well within a diverse, geographically distributed, multicultural environment.
