Objectives –
• Create, enforce and constantly up-keep software development processes and policies.
• Promote and ensure product differentiation under the SW Director’s directives.
• Ensure Product (Software) Reliability, Scalability, and Serviceability through strict software development disciplines and optimal methodologies.
• Foster, incubate and persistently improve core competency.
Responsibilities –
• Technical and administrative management in all aspects of Software development in China, including but not limited to - Embedded software/firmware development of the entire product spectrum, SW development and testing tool chains, Software configuration systems, Application Software/Server development, and Network/Element management systems (N/EMS).
• Direct management of the China/Shanghai SW Engineering teams.
• Provide clear direction and guidance of Software Development Processes and Methodologies to facilitate the overall product quality standards.
• Advocate, communicate and execute corporate objectives within the department.
• Execute SW Engineering overall staffing objectives in accordance with the corporate strategies and goals. Proactively create an environment to promote stability, innovation, creativity and competitive core competency.
• Assume overall responsibility of all development projects in China and act as the collateral to, and in occasions, in behalf of the SW Director.
• This position reports directly to the Dir. of SW Engineering.
• Reporting directly to this positions are:
o The DataPath team lead
o Service SW team lead
o Platform SW team lead
o EMS team lead
o SW Configuration Manager (SCM)
Qualifications
• Experienced in embedded software development for communication devices, both as a developer and a leader – 10 years
• Proven ability to lead large-scale software projects – involving development of software for communication devices from ground up, including several major application components, protocols, drivers and infrastructure software
• Proven ability in project management – managing multiple subprojects and product developments at the same time with staggered schedules. Maintaining the project schedule, monitoring and delivering projects on time under challenging milestones
• Experience in managing software department with multilevel (at least two level) management structure with above 20 number of developers.
• Experience in managing software projects in C and C++ with mature design, development and testing process, experience with OO (Object Oriented) design principles is a plus.
• Proven people management skills – with ability to motivate and otherwise lead the team, provide guidance, vision and encouragement. Charismatic personality is a plus
• Experience with broadband access communication systems.
