I can tell you still did not get it. I worked in biotech as well. I never heard a VC will give you money to organize activities. Companies maybe. You probably has not heard the whole story. Either they were asked to find projects which means the activities are specified or someone wants them to channel the money to activities which are not convient for the companies to do directly (like for KTV etc). I mentioned before, in Biotech, the best organization for Chinese is called BayHelix. All the members need to be at director and above level in companies. And 70% of the members are C-level executives. When we ask for sponsorship, the membership companies will write the checks because members are executives who can make that kind of decisions. Most of the time, the activity has a central theme. I do not think anyone would sponsor a social gathering. Therefore I suggested HaiGuiNet shall organize various activities. Social gethering is an important part of the network activities. BayHelix did not ask memeber to bid for organzing activities even though we have a large budget. It is still based on volunteerism and we do not expect a large profit to be made. Frida has done a great job to organize the events. If Wildcat wants to do it, then ask him to organize one and see how it goes (I better he probably say no).
