You have an admirably clear vision. I very much agree with you. The current administration is bought off by the US upper elite and this has resulted in more poverty and a gradual weakening of the core of US economy - the middle class.
And yet US is also troubled with an aging population, very high and ever-growing expenses in basis services, health care, education, etc. I don't have a good feeling about prospect of US economy. US is also less a level playing field as before.
It is hard for me to imagine that US would want to play hard ball with China when it is still trapped in a war, a huge fiscal deficit and an asset bubble. So China can probably buy a few years' time. But things may change if Democrat win the next election. Some day, US may be willing to engage in a lose-lose game to contain China's power. China is really fortunate to see Bush elected twice.
